Do you have a question?

We’re here to answer your questions and provide exceptional care for your furry companions. Whether you need to schedule an appointment, inquire about our services, or simply want to say hello, getting in touch with us is easy.

What to include when you email us

A complete first message lets our team reply with a real answer instead of more questions. When you write to mypet@warehamanimalhospital.com, please include:

  • Your name and the best phone number to reach you
  • Your pet’s name, species, breed and age (we also see exotic pets, so say if it’s a bird, reptile or small mammal)
  • What’s going on, when it started and whether it’s getting worse
  • Any medications your pet takes now
  • The days and times that work for an appointment

If you’re asking about an ultrasound, echocardiogram or surgery, mention whether another vet has already examined your pet. If they have, ask them to send their records too.

What happens after you contact us

Every message is read by our team, not an automated system. Here is what to expect:

  • Reply time: we aim to answer emails within [add: typical reply time, e.g. one business day]. If you haven’t heard back, please call.
  • A quick check on urgency: if your note describes symptoms, we may phone you instead of replying by email, so we can decide together how soon your pet should be seen.
  • Booking: we offer a time based on the days you listed. For an ultrasound, echocardiogram or surgery, we’ll also tell you how to prepare, including any fasting or medication changes.
  • Records: once files from your previous vet or referring clinic arrive, we add them to your pet’s chart before the visit.

Costs, estimates and payment

The cost of a visit depends on what your pet needs, so we can’t give one flat price by email. The main things that affect the total are:

  • The type of visit, such as a routine exam, an urgent same-day visit or a specialist imaging appointment
  • Tests like bloodwork, X-rays, abdominal or thoracic ultrasound, or an echocardiogram
  • Whether your pet needs sedation, anesthesia, pain medication or a hospital stay
  • Your pet’s species and size, because exotic pets and very large dogs can need different equipment or medication doses

For procedures and imaging, ask us for an estimate before treatment [add: confirm written estimates are provided]. We accept [add: payment methods, e.g. cash, cards, CareCredit]. [add: pet insurance policy, e.g. whether the clinic can send records to the insurer].

Common questions before your first visit

Do I need a referral for an ultrasound or echocardiogram? [add: whether owners can book imaging directly or need a referral from their regular vet].

Can I request a prescription refill? Yes. Email or call with your pet’s name and the medication. Refills for patients we haven’t examined recently may need a recheck first [add: confirm refill policy and pickup times].

How should I bring my pet in? Keep dogs on a leash and cats in a secure carrier. Bring birds, reptiles and small mammals in a covered carrier. A photo of their enclosure and a list of what they eat help with exotic pet visits.

Should I bring anything else? Bring your pet’s current medications or photos of the labels, plus a fresh stool sample if we ask for one when booking.

Urgent problem? Call, don't email

Email is best for questions, appointment requests and records. If your pet is sick or hurt right now, please call us at [add: main phone number] so we can tell you whether to come in straight away. Call immediately for:

  • Trouble breathing, choking or blue-tinged gums
  • Collapse, seizures or sudden weakness
  • Suspected poisoning, such as chocolate, medications, rodent bait or antifreeze
  • Heavy bleeding or a hit-by-car injury
  • Repeated vomiting, a swollen belly, or a cat straining to urinate

Our hours are [add: weekday and weekend hours]. Outside those hours, [add: after-hours or emergency arrangement and phone number].

New clients and referring veterinarians

Many of our patients come from Wareham and nearby towns such as Plymouth, Lakeville, New Bedford, Mashpee and Falmouth. If you’re new to us, email or call ahead so we can set up your pet’s file. Please ask your previous vet to send vaccine history, recent bloodwork and any X-rays.

Veterinarians referring a patient for abdominal or thoracic ultrasound, echocardiography or a special procedure can send the history and any prior imaging to the email above. Please include the owner’s contact details so we can schedule directly.

You’ll find us at [add: street address, Wareham, MA]. [add: parking or entrance directions].
